A low quarter style shoe for people with high insteps, particularly a sports shoe, e.g. for tennis, has an upper which includes low quarter side portions 14, the forward part of the side portions being divided into upper and lower sections 17, 16, each section having its own securing means, e.g. laces 19, 20. The divided upper and separate laces allow the front of the shoe to be laced tightly and allow the lacing over the instep to be laced according to the comfort of the wearer. The two sections of the upper may be separated by a V-shaped opening 18 in a one piece side section 14 or the side section may be made in two parts (not shown) the two parts overlapping each other. |
