In a flash-bulb of the percussibly ignitable type the priming substance 6 in the metal tube 4 protruding from and in communication with the interior of the bulb 1 is enclosed in a capsule 5 so that it may be more easily handled during manufacture. Such a capsule may comprise a cylindrical plastics or metal sleeve closed at one end and having a stopper at the other end, Fig. 2 (not shown). To retain the capsule in position in the tube it may be provided with a lug which jams in the tube or it may be stuck in the tube by adhesive. Otherwise it is retained in position by constrictions in the metal tube, Fig. 4 (not shown). In a further embodiment for use with a single firing pin, Fig. 3 (not shown), a central steel anvil is provided in the capsule, this anvil being covered with the priming substance and an outer wrapping of paper, plastics or metal closed at one end and having a stopper at the other end. |
