<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an opening and closing body driving device capable of preventing it from determining that a foreign matter is caught due to the occurrence of chattering of a switch element without changing design of a control part CPU and adding a member as much as possible. <P>SOLUTION: A power window device 100 is provided with a terminal 342a for manually closing MC, a relay circuit for connecting a motor with power supply or ground, the control part for controlling the relay circuit when it is not submerged in water, a water leakage detection circuit for connecting both ends of the motor with power supply when it is submerged in water, the switch element 5 for disconnecting the other terminal of the motor from power supply, and a catching-in detection part for determining that a foreign matter is caught if rotational speed of the motor is reduced below a threshold value.
