PURPOSE: A solid state laser device and an actuating method thereof are provided to efficiently prevent the temperature of the laser device from being unnecessarily raised by an air-cooling system using a thermoelectric element. CONSTITUTION: A solid state laser device(1) outputs a pulsed laser light. The laser device includes a gain medium(100), a light pumping part(200), a reflector mirror(400), an output coupling mirror(500), and a Q-switch(300). The light pumping part injects excitation energy to the gain medium. The reflector mirror and the output coupling mirror resonate a laser light firstly generated from the gain medium. The Q-switch delays the resonance of the laser light. The Q-switch implements switching for outputting the pulsed laser light with a giant pulse shape.
