PURPOSE: A Japanese Roman character input keyboard is provided to reduce the number of keys by inputting a specific character string having contracted sound and a specific character string such as consonant. CONSTITUTION: A keyboard includes keys having a consonant key and a vowel key. The keys are classified into a left hand area and a right hand area. The previously allocated character string is inputted in operation. A part of the keys is set up as a multi key to which key codes are allocated.
