PURPOSE: A method and a water bath device for culturing microalgae using LED are provided to freely regulate LED color and to enable mass culture of the microalgae. CONSTITUTION: A method for culturing microalgae comprises a step of culturing the microalgae in a culture bath using an LED as a light source at 15-25 deg. C. The LED has red color and blue color in a ratio of 2:1-4:1. The microalgae are chlorella including C. saccharophila, C. salina, C. stigmatophora, or C. vulgaris. The pulse period of the LED is 200-1000 us. A water bath device for culturing microalgae comprises: a plurality of LEDs which is formed in a matrix structure; an LED part with a reflecting plate for collecting the light emitted from the LED; a lifting and lowering device which lifts and lowers the LED part; and a control unit which controls the operation of the lifting and lowering device and LED part.
