Organosilicon compounds containing the group #SiRSCH(R<SP>1</SP>)CH(R<SP>1</SP>)OH, wherein R represents a divalent hydrocarbon radical free of aliphatic unsaturation, R<SP>1</SP> represents hydrogen, C 1-6 alkyl. or C 1-6 halogenoalkyl, and the remaining free. valencies of the silicon atom being satisfied by alkoxy, alkoxyalkoxy or halogenoalkoxy radicals, by oxygen atoms of -SiOSilinkages or by monovalent hydrocarbon or halohydrocarbon radicals, are prepared by reacting corresponding organosilicon compounds containing the group #SiRSH with an alkylene oxide of the formula in the presence of an acidic or basic catalyst and preferably also in the presence of an alcohol as a promoting agent. Solvents may also be used.
