PURPOSE: An electronic control device and a safety control method thereof are provided to decide the rollover of the vehicle using the detection information of a different electronic control device. CONSTITUTION: An electronic control device comprises the first processing part(120) which obtains the first detection information detected by the first sensor; the first communication part(130) which sends the first detection information to a vehicle network and which receives the second detection information from the vehicle network; and the first control part(110) which decides whether the vehicle is in a rollover accident situation using the first detection information if there is the credibility of the first detection information and The first control part which determines the rollover accident situation using the first detection information if there is the credibility of the first detection information and which determines the rollover accident situation using the second detection information if there is no credibility of the first detection information after checking the credibility of the first detection information. The first control part executes the safety control of the vehicle which includes at least one among the airbag unfolding and the brake control once the rollover accident situation is decided by the first and the second detection information. The safety control method by the electronic control device comprises an stage that obtains the first detection information; a stage that shares the first detection information receiving through the vehicle network with other electronic control device; and a stage that receives the second detection information from the vehicle network; a stage that checks whether there is the credibility of the first detection information; a stage that determines whether there is the rollover accident situation using the first detection information in case the first detection information has credibility; a stage that determines whether there is the rollover accident situation using the second detection information in case the first detection information has no credibility; and a stage that executes the safety control that is preset in a vehicle once the rollover accident situation of the vehicle is determined by the first or the second detection information.
