A sealing device and method for sealing a first portion of plastic sheet to a second, for example in sealing closed a plastic bag, comprises two arms 1,2 pivotably movable together from an open position to a closed position to clamp the sheet portions together, and a cutter 7 movable along the arms 1,2 when closed together to cut the exposed end of the sheet portions to length. The cut ends may then be sealed using a conventional heat gun. The cutter 7 may be adjustable by means of an adjuster 8 to vary the quantity of plastic sheet projecting from the device for sealing. The cutter 7 may also be adapted to retain the arms 1,2 in their closed position when it is moved to a distal end of the arms 1,2. |
