A clamp (10) has a drive unit which is placed centrally in relation to the axis of hollow articles. A clamping disk is subdivided into primary and secondary jaws, on each of which the retention elements are radially mounted in the direction of axis of the articles. Each forked retaining element is guided in a recess of a support element and is connected in a radially pivotable manner, similar to a toggle lever, to a tappet of the drive unit, through the primary or secondary levers which are connected to a control shaft.
