PURPOSE: A conveying device, a printing device, and a conveying method are provided to accurately obtain the diameter of a roller and to properly select the driving mode of a roll rotating part. CONSTITUTION: A conveying device comprises a driving roller, a roll rotating part(36), and a control part(22). The driving roller transfers sheets from a roll to a conveying path. The roll rotating part rotates the roll to wind and return the sheets. The control part controls the operation of the roll rotating part. The roll rotating part has multiple driving modes having different rotating speed. When the sheets are wound and returned, the control part determined one of the driving modes based on the diameter value of the roll and the amount of the sheets to be conveyed.
