A rotor blade assernbly (100) and a method for adjusting a loading capability ofa rotor blade (1 6) are disclosed. The rotor blade assembly (100) includes a rotor blade (16) having suifaces defining a piessute side (22) a suction side (24) a leading edge (26) and a trailing edge (28) extending between a tip (32) and a root (34). The rotor blade (16) ftirther defines a span (44) and a chord (42). The rotor blade assembly (100) further includes a spo iler assembly (102) operable to alter a flow (104) past a surface of the rotor blade (16). The spo iler assembly (102) is increnientally deployable from the surface along olie ofa Iength (120) orawidth (122) of the spoiler assembly (102).
