A power contact device comprising contacts resisting a short-circuit current. It comprises a stationary contact element (11) and a movable contact element (12), the two elements being in the form of two juxtaposed coiled turns arranged facing one another in the open position. Each turn is made from a material that is both magnetic and current conducting to constitute a single part acting as power contact, as coil generating a magnetic induction field, and as magnetic circuit performing strengthening and channelling of said magnetic field. Applications : reversing switches, contactors, power switches.
