PURPOSE: A portable terminal and a keypad display method are provided to improve user convenience for inputting the English alphabet. CONSTITUTION: A touch screen unit(110) includes a display area and a keypad area. The touch screen unit displays a keypad on the keypad area. The touch screen unit generates a touch signal by sensing the touch of the keypad. The keypad includes first alphabet keys, second alphabet keys, and third alphabet keys. The second alphabet keys correspond to a second alphabet group. The third alphabet keys correspond to a third alphabet group.
