<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new light-emitting device that can reduce speckle noise and has a high output. <P>SOLUTION: A light-emitting device 100 includes: a first cladding layer; an active layer; and a second cladding layer. At least a part of the active layer constitutes a plurality of gain regions. In a wavelength range of light generated in the plurality of gain regions, a reflectance of a first lateral surface 140 of the active layer is greater than a reflectance of a second lateral surface 142 of the active layer opposite to the first lateral surface 140. The plurality of gain regions forms at least two pairs of gain regions 160. One pair of the pairs of gain regions, first gain regions 180, as viewed in a plan view, is disposed toward one direction inclined with respect to a perpendicular of the first lateral surface 140 from the first lateral surface 140 to the second lateral surface 142. Other pair of a plurality of pairs of gain regions, second gain regions 190, as viewed in the plan view, constitutes a first portion 192 disposed toward other direction different from the one direction from the first lateral surface 140 to a reflecting surface 179 disposed between the first lateral surface 140 and the second lateral surface 142 and a second portion 194 disposed in the one direction from the reflecting surface 179 to the second lateral surface 142. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
