<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide intraocularly implantable intraocular implants capable of releasing a therapeutic agent at a sustained or controlled rate for extended periods of time with few or no negative side effects. <P>SOLUTION: In rod-shaped or wafer-shaped biodegradable intraocular implants including brimonidine or brimonidine tartrate, and a biodegradable polymer matrix, the biodegradable polymer matrix continuously releases the brimonidine or brimonidine tartrate from the intraocular implants, the brimonidine or brimonidine tartrate occupies 20-40% of the weight of the implant, and the polymer matrix contains a mixture having a weight ratio of 1:1 of between a first biodegradable polymer and a second biodegradable polymer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
