The method involves adjusting an operational parameter i.e. temperature, of a two-point lambda probe as a function of composition i.e. oxygen content, of a gaseous mixture, to be determined, where the gaseous mixture is a lean or rich gaseous mixture. A composition value is determined from a reference value of a fuel mixture controller, where the lambda probe is connected to a control device. An independent claim is also included for a device for determination of oxygen contents in a gaseous mixture.
