The method involves detecting an operating condition, in which a brake force booster (7) is evacuated and an additional air mass flow (mZ) is directed from the brake force booster in an intake tract (2). An engine controller (12) is determined based on the additional air mass flow of an additional injected fuel amount (mK). A pressure sensor (17) is arranged in the intake tract and provided for detecting the operating condition.
