摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and corresponding methods for applying a dampening fluid to an image-reconstituting surface of an imaging member in a variable data lithography system, without a form roller. <P>SOLUTION: An ultrasonic transducer 38 under the control of a controller 40 applies fine droplets of a dampening fluid to form a dispersed fluid. The dispersed fluid which may further contain a delivery fluid (usually, air) is transferred to a nozzle 44 under a positive internal pressure from a pressurizing means 42 and finally transferred from the nozzle 44. The output of the nozzle 44 is led to an image-reconstituting surface layer of an imaging member 12 to thereby accumulate a layer of thinly extending liquid droplets so that a continuous layer 46 of the dampening fluid is formed covering the entire image-reconstituting surface layer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT
