<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a battery pack to be charged and discharged safely while reducing the amount of power consumed when charging the battery pack. <P>SOLUTION: A controller 10 is designed to control a battery pack 1. When power is charged to the battery pack 1, the controller 10 controls relays 6a and 6b so that, after a battery module 3b equipped with a heater 5 is heated to first threshold value, all of battery modules 3a and 3b are charged to a second threshold value. When power is discharged from the battery pack 1, the controller 10 controls the relay 6a or 6b so that power is discharged from the battery module 3a or 3b whichever is higher in voltage value than the other, and when the voltage value of the other battery module becomes equal to the voltage value of the battery module being discharged, the controller 10 controls the relay 6a or 6b so that the other battery module is connected in parallel to the battery module being discharged. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
