<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device that can reduce an optical sheet in size to a required minimum size while being capable of preventing positional deviations of a liquid crystal panel and the optical sheet by making a structure of a side at which an overhanging portion of an element substrate is positioned appropriate in the liquid crystal panel, and further to provide an electronic apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: In a liquid crystal display device 100, at a side at which an overhanging portion 110 overhanging from a side end surface of a counter substrate 12 is positioned in an element substrate 11, a first stepped portion 313 that projects from a projecting plate portion 312 of a first frame 30 to a liquid crystal panel 10 side and is opposite to a side end surface of the overhanging portion 110 is provided, and a second stepped portion 316 that projects from the projecting plate portion 312 to an optical sheet 180 side and is opposite to a contour side 181 of an optical sheet 180 is provided.
