<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce an inter-vehicle distance between each vehicle and its nearest preceding vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: When a wireless communication unit 11 receives information of speed regulation ability of the nearest succeeding vehicle, a traveling support device compares the received speed regulation ability of the nearest succeeding vehicle and speed regulation ability of its own vehicle in which the device is installed. When the speed regulation ability of the nearest succeeding vehicle is higher than the speed regulation ability of its own vehicle, the device limits the maximum deceleration of its own vehicle, and also sets a target inter-vehicle distance between its own vehicle and the nearest preceding vehicle according to the limited maximum deceleration. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
