A motor compensated for the reduction in weight of a conventional motor and a washing machine equipped with the compensated motor are provided to maintain balance of a tub by fixing a ring shaped weight compensating member to fixing ribs radially disposed on one side of an insulator of a stator. A ring shaped weight compensating member(130) is fitted into fixing ribs(115,116) discontinuously or continuously and radially disposed along one side of an insulator(112) of a stator(110). The fixing ribs include first and second ribs which support outer and inner circumferences of the weight compensating member. The fixing ribs are made of materials having restoration capability from deflection, and are inclined to compress the weight compensating member. Stoppers are disposed on ends of the fixing ribs for holding the weight compensating member. The weight compensating member has lateral sides inclined corresponding to the inclination of the fixing ribs. The lateral inclinations prevent the weight compensating member from being separated from the fixing ribs. |
