<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device that has a high degree of freedom in selecting materials for a color filter or the like, can be manufactured in a simple process, and is excellent in display characteristics, and to provide a color filter for liquid crystal display device. <P>SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display device has a color filter with a coloring layer, a liquid crystal cell, and a pair of polarizing plates disposed on both sides of the liquid crystal cell.
