<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the operability of a chain saw having a chain cover. <P>SOLUTION: A sprocket 14 is disposed on a housing 10 of the chain saw, a guide bar 15 is mounted freely attachably and detachably, and a saw chain 19 provided with a plurality of blade parts is laid between the sprocket 14 and the guide bar 15. A chain cover 21 is disposed on the housing so as to permit the free opening/closing movement between a development position where the saw chain 19 is covered and a storage position where the saw chain 19 is exposed.
