<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide image alignment means achieving both accuracy and excellent performance in a realtime inspection system for a printed matter in synchronization with printing. <P>SOLUTION: An inspection system measures a skew angle through detecting a plurality of paper edges of a desired print document, extracts, for misalignment correction, feature points from print contents of print data and image data of the print data, and estimates a linear misalignment amount by fitting processing of respective feature points.
