<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To keep the balance of color arrangement from being destroyed when spectral reflection factors, etc. are calculated, and also, by taking the spectrum of reflected light or transmitted light of another object or the base color of paper into consideration, accurately calculate the spectral reflection factor of printed matter needed for color reproduction, thereby ensuring that images will be seen with the same impression even under different ambient light. <P>SOLUTION: When, at the time the spectrum of light reflected on the object plane of a second object under a second light source (spectrum under the second light source) becomes the same as the spectrum of light reflected on the object plane of a first object under a first light source (spectrum under the first light source), a spectral reflection factor on the object plane of the second object (first spectral reflection factor) is calculated, cluster analysis about the spectrum under the first light source is performed and also cluster analysis about the spectrum of light reaching the object plane of the second object is performed.
