Provided is an electric brake device whereby freezing can be reliably prevented by a simple configuration without releasing braking force while in a parked state. An electric brake device has an electric motor (2), a braking force load mechanism (4)a locking mechanism (5), a temperature sensor (6) for detecting the air temperature outside a vehicle, and a freeze-prevention powering means (7). When the braking force load mechanism (4) is exerting a braking force and the locking mechanism (5) is locked, the freeze-prevention powering means (7) begins supplying electrical power to a drive source (30) of the electric motor (2) or the locking mechanism (5) when the temperature sensor (6) detects the pre-freezing temperature that is set for the electric brake device.
