<p>The purpose of the present invention is to correct an image in response to a distortion in the shape of a pixel on a projection screen. An image display apparatus includes: a display element having a plurality of pixels, for displaying an image based on image data; a projection optical system for projecting the image displayed by the display element on a projection surface; a coordinate converter for receiving a correction parameter for deforming a projection image in order to correct distortion of the projection image, to perform coordinate conversion using the correction parameter on each pixel of a source image indicated by image data, and to output the result of coordinate conversion for assigning corresponding coordinates for each pixel of the source image to the coordinates for each pixel of the output image that is the result of the coordinate conversion; and a correction processor for setting a pixel value for each pixel of the output image in accordance with the ratio of pixels in the source image to pixels in the output image indicated by the coordinate conversion result.</p> |
