1278603 Brominating polystyrene UGINE KUHLMANN 20 Aug 1969 [3 Feb 1969] 41605/69 Heading C3P [Also in Division C2] Example 13 describes a process for the repparation of Brominated Polystyrene in which polystyrene beads smaller than 1 mm. are contacted with bromine in the presence of iodine and in the absence of a solvent, and the bromination is carried out in a reactor equipped with a sufficiently powerful mixing device to ensure effective stirring and crushing of the whole reaction mixture throughout the bromination. The resulting polymer is self-extinguishing.
