<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reliable method and device for estimating network traffic. <P>SOLUTION: A network (a home network) has a plurality of user devices. The user devices each have an estimation application preferably installed by a user. The network further has a network device that acts as an interface between the network and an external network. A method for estimating network traffic includes: measuring the network traffic for the user device by the estimation application; while generating independent estimation for network consumption by the network device; and determining that the estimation is valid when the difference between the sum of the measurements from the estimation applications and the measurement of the network device is less than a fixed threshold. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
