<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device capable of suppressing deterioration of display quality. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device comprises: a first substrate including a first insulating substrate, a first electrode linearly extended on an inner side of the first insulating substrate, and a first alignment layer covering the first electrode; a second substrate including a second insulating substrate, a second electrode extended in a direction in approximately parallel to an extending direction of the first electrode on both sides across the first electrode on a side facing the first substrate of the second insulating substrate, and a second alignment layer covering the second electrode; a liquid crystal layer including liquid crystal molecules held between the first substrate and the second substrate; a first polarizing plate disposed on an outer surface of the first insulating substrate and having a first absorption axis; and a second polarizing plate disposed on an outer surface of the second insulating substrate and having a second absorption axis in a crossed-Nicol positional relationship with the first absorption axis.
