<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a long oxide superconductor exhibiting excellent superconducting properties in which the resistance component is small in an oxide superconducting layer provided on a weld zone even if a substrate produced by integrating a metal tape by welding is provided. <P>SOLUTION: The oxide superconductor includes a substrate produced by butt-welding the ends of a metal tape, and an oxide superconducting layer and a protective layer provided above the substrate.
