A system and method for applying tluid to a receiver surface are dis¬ closed. A carrier (300) has a top surface, a bottom surface (216), and a slot, wherein the bottom surface (216) of the carrier faces the re¬ ceiver surface. A mount (400) is positioned in the slot, an inkjet car¬ tridge (402) is disposed in the mount (400), and fluid is ejected from the inkjet cartridge (402) toward the receiver surface. The inkjet car¬ tridge (402) is disposed such that at least a portion of the inkjet car¬ tridge (402) extends inwardly from the bottom surface (216) of the carrier (300).
