The present invention discloses a process of producing light olefins by the conversion of methanol and ethanol. The process comprises: introducing the first portion of the feedstock through the grid at the reactor bottom into the reaction zone filled with catalyst; introducing the second portion of the feedstock from at least one position above the said grid into the said reaction zone; contacting and reacting the said feedstock with the said catalyst to produce the stream containing ethylene and propylene; and drawing out the said stream containing ethylene and propylene from the top of the reactor and sending to the separation system to separate ethylene and propylene, wherein the said first portion and the said second portion each independently comprises methanol or ethanol or both, provided that the total feedstock comprises methanol and ethanol, and the weight ratio of methanol and ethanol in the total feedstock is 99: 1 ~ 0.1: 1.
