PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter material in which the reduction of removing ability is small even using for a long time and a chromaticity treatment method using the filter material in the method for removing the chromaticity component by bringing a water containing the chromaticity component into contact with a filter material for chromaticity treatment containing a catalyst along with an hypochlorous acid base oxidizing agent.

SOLUTION: The filter material carrying about 10 mg Mn/g the filter material or more of manganese dioxide further carries 1 mg Co/g the filter material of cobalt oxide, thereby a catalytic function generating oxygen radical by acting on the chromaticity component is enhanced in addition to an adsorbing function, the chromaticity treatment in which the reduction of removing ability is small even using for effectively removing the chromaticity components for a long time becomes possible.
