<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a trash compressor which can lower height of a trash compressor by making a compression part compact, while maintaining stroke quantity of a compression plate necessary for compression of trash, and in which extra space causing failure is not generated when the compression plate descends. <P>SOLUTION: In the compression part 1, an upper frame 10, a middle frame 20 and a lower frame 40 are slidably provided. On the under surface of the lower frame 40, the compression plate 41 is provided. Inside the middle frame 20, sprockets 26 are each provided above and below; a chain 27 to be suspended in between; and an electric motor is provided for driving the sprockets 26. One part of the chain 27 crossing between the sprockets 26 is fixed on the upper frame 10 and the other part of the chain 27 crossing along the opposite side is fixed on the lower frame 40; and the upper frame 10 is fixed on a machine casing 3.
