The invention relates to a screen for treating a fibrous material suspension suitable for producing a paper, cardboard, tissue or other fibrous material web, with a plurality of screen openings (1, 2), the smallest cross-sectional areas of which are of roughly equal size and the inlet-side cross-sectional areas of the screen openings (1, 2) are of different sizes. The sorting effect and/or the throughput is to be improved, while guaranteeing the required screen stability, in that a screen opening (2) with a larger inlet-side cross-sectional area is surrounded by more than four screen openings (1) with a smaller inlet-side cross-sectional area.
