METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR IN-PROCESS QUALITY CONTROL DURING DRILL-FILL ASSEMBLY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for shortening a time required for in-process quality control.

SOLUTION: The method includes: a step of locating a position in a stacked-plate assembly where a one-sided fastener 300 is installed; a step of drilling a hole 524 through the stacked-plate assembly at the position; a step of countersinking the hole to a specified depth; a step of operating a calibrated probe to determine at least a parameter associated with one or a plurality of the holes and the stacked plates in vicinities of the holes; a step of inserting the one-sided fastener into the hole; a step of applying rotational torque to the one-sided fastener to complete the installation of the one-sided fastener; and a step of comparing the measurement of angular displacement required to complete the installation of the one-sided fastener to a range of angular displacement indicative of the correct installation of the fastener.
