<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radioactive cesium processing method capable of reducing the amount of radioactivity of the wastes and also reducing the disposal volume of removed objects containing radioactive cesium by removing the radioactive cesium from the wastes such as soil and mud containing the radioactive cesium. <P>SOLUTION: A radioactive cesium processing method for removing radioactive cesium from the wastes such as soil or mud containing the radioactive cesium includes: a heating step in which, by heating the wastes including chlorine mixed therein at 700°C to 1300°C to volatilize the radioactive cesium as chloride, the wastes are separated and formed into volatile gas containing the radioactive cesium and burned products; and a cooling step in which, by cooling the volatile gas separated and formed in the heating step, metal chloride containing the radioactive cesium contained the volatile gas is precipitated. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
