<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum heat insulating material that uses an organic fiber as a core material to suppress the deterioration of a working environment caused by the dissipation of glass fibers when used as the core material, forms a slit in the core material to improve breakage resistance of the organic fibers, and that suppresses the tangle of the organic fibers around a metal, which is a recycled recovery material, or filter clogging caused by the flocculation of the organic fibers. <P>SOLUTION: The vacuum heat insulating material 1 includes the core material 2 including an organic fiber sheet and a packing material 6 having gas barrier properties and storing the core material 2 to be vacuum sealed. The slit is formed on the organic fiber sheet so that the organic fibers are longitudinally separated.
