The device (10) comprises an arrest unit (15) that prevents a transverse movement of a trailer (11) along longitudinal axis of a towing vehicle (12). The arrest unit is activated and deactivated by using an actuator unit. The trailer is pulled by the actuator unit, for enabling the transverse movement of the trailer in normal operation state. The trailer is pushed by the actuator unit, for preventing the transverse movement of the trailer in switchyard operation state.
