A chassis for positioning and holding a turbine's rotor in a flow of liquid includes a first end and a second end, each releasably attachable to a turbine rotor. The first end includes: a) a region for coupling the first end to a structure to position and hold the first end in a flow of liquid, b) a cavity sealable to prevent liquid from entering the cavity while the first end is in a flow of liquid, c) a generator, disposed in the cavity and having an input shaft, the generator operable to generate electricity when the generator's input shaft rotates, and d) a coupler releasably attachable to a turbine rotor's shaft for coupling the turbine rotor's shaft with the generator's input shaft.
