<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an excellent appearance after surface finish of a lightweight concrete member by setting, to a proper value, a solid content per unit area of a substrate adjusting material to be applied onto the lightweight concrete member, or the like. <P>SOLUTION: In this surface finishing method, a substrate adjusting material is applied onto the surface of the lightweight concrete member. The substrate adjusting material is produced by mixing together (A) a polymer emulsion obtained by mixing (A1) a polyethylene, a polypropylene, a vinyl acetate polymer, a styrene polymer, a vinyl chloride polymer, a butyral resin or an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer having an average molecular weight of ≥3,000 t0 ≤100,000, (A2) a dispersant having an average molecular weight of ≥500 to ≤3,000 and (A3) water; (B) an acrylic emulsion or a synthetic rubber emulsion; and (C) at least one kind selected from between talc, silica, calcium carbonate and silica sand having a particle size of 5-15 μm.
