<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and method for generating a development image of a side wall from a captured image even if the side wall of a structure extended in a longitudinal direction has no joint, especially relating to a method of generating a development image of a side wall of a tunnel or a floor slab/railing part of a bridge. <P>SOLUTION: The apparatus for generating a development image of a side wall of a structure extended in a longitudinal direction includes: an imaging device that images a side wall in a direction orthogonal to the side wall of the structure extended in the longitudinal direction to obtain a captured image of the side wall; a range finder that is arranged close to the imaging device, has a rotation axis parallel to the side wall, and measures the distance between the side wall and the imaging device for a rotation angle with respect to the axis parallel to the side wall; and an image processing part that sets an imaginary joint on the side wall, which is extended in a curved cross sectional direction of the side wall, to obtain a development image of the side wall from the captured image by use of the imaginary joint projected in the captured image. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
