The device (1) has a first bar (6.3) comprising a carrier body (6.T) and a wear body (6.V) that affects an adjacent wire (3) i.e. endless wire (3.1). A second bar (6.1) and a third bar (6.4) arranged on a base body (4) are rigidly attached and viewed in a wire direction of travel (R) of the endless wire. The second and third bars form a planar main effective surface (H). Selection of the bars is flexible, so that a fourth bar (6.2) and the first bar are displaceably supported on the base body, and the second and third bars are rigidly attached with the base body.
