Instruction data from CPU 8 is fed to buffer registers 15-17 which are sequenced through gates 25-27 by a scan-and-select mechanism 13 which interrogates lines 100-104 as to the presence of a request for service from any one of the machine tools. Blocks 10-12, operating at a timing controlled by CPU 8, are connected to mechanism 13 through switches 83, 86, 89 which, in the down position connect to outputs of systems 5-7. Each machine tool system periodically provides a pulse indicating a request for additional data from the computer 14. The mechanism 13 then operates a line 150, 154 or 156 to enable a gate 25, 26 or 27 to connect a buffer register to the computer. The computer provides positive or negative X or Y position increment commands on lines 45-48 through a gate 70-72, as enabled by mechanism 13, to the particular machine tool control system that had requested data. When the computer 14 has completed the performance of an algorithm for a given machine tool it will then, via a line 152, cause the mechanism 13 to scan for a request by a different machine tool system.</p> |
