1282648 Hydrotherapeutic baths AMERICAN STANDARD Inc 19 Jan 1970 [22 Jan 1969] 2455/70 Heading A4N [Also in Division B1] A nozzle assembly has a water inlet pipe 80 which can be inserted in the drain 12 of a bath to communicate with a pump 14. The pump draws water from the bath through pipe 16 and pumps it to the nozzle inlet pipe through pipe 18 creating whirlpool action within the bath. The nozzle assembly may be removed from the bath, which is then free from internal obstructions. The water discharges through outlet nozzle 20, and draws in air through a pipe 22. A butterfly valve 26 and a rotary valve 32 control the water and air-flows respectively. Spacing ribs below the body of the nozzle assembly ensure clearance around the pipe 80 to allow water to drain from the bath into the pipe 16 to be recirculated. The inlet pipe 80 depends into a connector beneath the bath and engages a seal in a partition which separates the parts connected to the pipes 16, 18. The partition however has a small drain opening (60), Fig. 8 (not shown) to prevent stale water remaining after the bath is emptied. The bath is emptied by operating a handle or knob 38 to lift a plug in the waste pipe 43. The pump is located above the bottom of the bath (but outside it), and has a vent pipe 34, so that it is primed as the bath is filled. The vent is connected to the overflow pipe 36. The operation of the pump may be controlled by a timer.
