A physiologically active steroidal compound of the partial formula WHEREIN R1 is H, carboxylic acyl groups of less than 12 carbon atoms, tetrahydropyran-2-yl, tetrahydrofuran-2-yl, or 4-methoxy tetrahydropyran-4-yl, R2, R3, and R4 are H, or a lower alkyl, preferably methyl, R5 is H, a lower alkyl such as methyl, ethyl or propyl, and X and Y are independently H, F, Br or Cl.
