A device for cleaning elongate flexible lines, such as rope and hoses comprises a housing 12, 14 with an internal wall defining a chamber. The chamber has an entrance 20 and an exit 22 for the passage of the lines. Nozzles (44, fig 8) are distributed around the internal wall and positioned to direct fluid across the chamber. Cleaning fluid is directed from a fluid inlet 24 to the nozzles though a fluid manifold (48, fig 6). Waste fluid may be collected in a sump and discharged through a fluid outlet 26. The device preferably has a non-slip stick lower surface, so that it will remain stationary while the lines are pulled through it. A method of cleaning such lines using the device is also disclosed.
